Foundations of Yoga Workshop with Ruth THIS SATURDAY NOV 22nd at 1pm!

Are you curious about taking a vinyasa flow yoga class, but nervous about mechanics of the practice? Come join this 90 minute workshop where we will dissect the basic poses of the vinyasa flow practice. We will explore what a vinyasa is, and work through some of the most foundational standing shapes you should expect to see in a class. If we have time, we will talk briefly about transitions between shapes.

If you’re curious about adding yoga into your weekly routine, it’s an intentional way to weave in active recovery to other strength based training. Although this is a foundations workshop, both those new to the mat and experienced yogis are welcome.

Hemali Patel first discovered yoga as a child at her local temple, but it wasn’t until 2016 that she truly connected with the practice’s deeper layers. A clinical pharmacist by profession, Hemali is inspired by the intersection of science and the subtle body, believing yoga to be one of the most powerful forms of medicine for cultivating self-awareness, resilience, and balance. She completed her 200-hour teacher training at Boston Yoga Union and has since expanded her studies with an 85-hour Prenatal Yoga certification, the Roll Model® Method certification, and ongoing Katonah Yoga® training.

Hemali’s classes blend modern biomechanics with traditional philosophy, weaving breath, alignment, and self-inquiry into each practice. With thoughtful sequencing, anatomy-informed cues, and playful insights, she creates an inclusive space for students to move mindfully and reconnect with their inner wisdom.
