Hakeem has been involved in athletics, martial arts and fitness since a young age. Guidance from coaches and trainers have had a very big impact in Hakeem’s life and it was only natural his career lead him toward the same road.
Hakeem works in rehab, sports performance and personal training using a myriad of approaches. Years of experience in yoga, corrective exercise, strength training and a number of other methods were honed and sharpened by his experience as a Musculosystematic Engineer (MsE). An MsE’s knowledge is based in the neuromuscular connectivity between a person’s mind and body and how to strengthen those connections for safer, stronger and more efficient movement and control.
A diverse background in clientele history leaves a very versatile and understanding approach. Using this knowledge, backed by a psychology degree with experience in the mental health field, allows Hakeem to view each client separately to better tune in to each person’s needs. Through mind and body Hakeem has seen tremendous change and outlook in his own life and believes it to be the key for success!!

Coach Barge is amazing, his energy and knowledge have really helped in my overall recovery from various nagging injuries. Over the summer I sprained my right ankle and came in a few days after to see him. After one session my ankle swelling had considerably gone down and my articulation has improved tremendously. I also had a cervical strain and found so much more relief working with coach Barge than with the medications I was on. I over all felt stronger and more confident in my movements. I played beach volleyball all summer thanks to him, highly recommend going to check it out.
Hakeem has been the most amazing coach I have ever worked with. There is definitely no “one size fits all” methodology going on and he listens to my needs and wants, aches and pains every single session and adjusts accordingly. Hakeem has pushed me just the right amount out of my comfort zone so that I am always improving, yet never feel demotivated because any movement is so out of reach. I train with Hakeem both individually as well as in a small group setting and its obvious that he puts time and attention on every one of his clients and meets their needs. In the 10 months that I have been working with Hakeem I have gone from an obese woman who needed every ounce of motivation to get me into that gym on the first day, to someone who is on the cusp of calling herself an athlete. I now wake up in the morning looking forward to training with Hakeem and am fresh and energetic all day. I have joined a sports league where I can now use my athletic abilities and honestly went from feeling old to young in a matter of months. To say I recommend Hakeem is the understatement of the century!
I’ve been working with Hakeem for a little over a year, and by far the BEST personal trainer I have ever had… Hakeem taught me how to create a varied and effective workout. Hakeem always explains why we’re doing what we’re doing. He is so motivating, works you hard, but also cracks a few jokes with his dance moves… Hakeem is the first trainer I’ve had that I’ve seen actual results. Thanks to Hakeem I now look forward going to the gym every morning and like what I see in the mirror. Hakeem you are truly an inspiration.

I have been working with coach barge since the spring of 2019 and he conducts himself with the upmost professionalism and gives his all to his clients. He is very knowledgeable and takes his work serious and expects the same from his clients.
